KEYHOLDERS WITH FLAMES

ORIGIN OF FLAME “REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT”

Today, companies use them as “goodies” for their marketing operations by customizing the original slogan and key ring colours.

Remove before flight Remove before flight is a removable safety warning commonly seen on aircraft and spacecraft, usually in the form of a red ribbon (called a flame). This device prevents the movement of mechanical parts (for example control surfaces against wind gusts) or protects a device such as a pitot tube (from obstruction).

This system is only used when the aircraft is on the ground (parked or taxiing).

It is common to see key chains or bag tags with this ribbon, especially among people passionate about aviation.
